Detoxing from technology

Have you ever sat down and thought long and hard about all of the media that you consume on a day to day basis? From the hours you spend on the internet doing next to nothing or the time you spend in front of the idiot box watching television shows you really did not care about? Or using apps on your phone to "connect" with friends when a simple text or email would probably be a much better connection. I wonder if all of this media is having an impact on our brains and I personally am making an effort to disconnect myself from it when possible (I have bought myself a few carrier pigeons which will come in handy this year!).

I decided to deactivate my facebook account because I found that I was spending way to much time on it. I was comparing myself to girls that I barely knew and it was just plain unhealthy. For all I know the same people were probably doing it to me and I think that is is selling myself short to see only the positive in others but shine a negative light on character traits in myself. I know I do this a ton and it is something I am working on.

I have had a rough couple of weeks eating wise because I was on vacation and I had a stressful week sorting some stuff out with my job and for school. I hate to admit it, but I am an emotional eater. When I am stressed, I eat and I know I need to find ways to cope with this if I want to stay healthy because I know it is a matter of time before I give myself diabetes or a heart attack. Being that I am only 24 and am a healthy weight, I just want to be back into my skinny pants. plain and simple.

This Aug I am doing Jillian Michael's fitness program Making the Cut. I love Crossfit when it is executed properly (proper mobility work, emphasis on form and not weight) and I personally found that this was not really happening at my box and I was finding that I would go and be flipping sore for a week after. I also cannot afford to keep on going to Crossfit with school coming up and I think it is prudent of me to find a lifestyle that does not bang up my body. I am going to blog about the specifics of this program and talk about my results when it is over (I am not going to let anyone know my current weight because I don't even know it).
